KARACHI, Dec 17: Twenty vehicles — six cars and 14 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Tuesday, police said.

Three cars were hijacked. Three others were stolen.

Six motorcycles were hijacked. Eight others were stolen.

Police also claimed on Tuesday to have recovered six vehicles in the city.

INJURED: A young man suffered burns when unidentified persons set him on fire in Gulistan-i-Jauhar late Monday night.

Police said Atif Bashir, aged 28, was coming out of Masjid-i-Sahibuzzaman in Block 14 of Gulistan-i-Jauhar. A few yards from the mosque two unidentified persons intercepted him and sprayed petrol on him and set him on fire. They escaped on a motorcycle.

People put out the fire and rushed him to a private hospital where he was admitted.

Hospital sources said Bashir had suffered 30 per cent burns.

His brother Zia Bashir lodged an FIR at the area police station against unknown persons.

Bashir was scheduled to be married on Dec 25.
