WASHINGTON, Dec 16: Former US vice president Al Gore has announced that he will not run for president in 2004, leaving the field wide open for Democratic candidates fighting to reach the White House.

“I’ve decided that I will not be a candidate for president in 2004,” Gore told CBS television Sunday.—AFP
