This was stated by district coordination officer Zafar Iqbal while inspecting fair price shops set up in the city.

He ordered shopkeepers to affix rate lists at conspicuous places and avoid overcharging otherwise a strict action would be taken against them.

He said in Ramazan bazaars, the gram pulse would be available for Rs32-34 per kg, basin Rs34-36, gram Rs34-36, moong Rs36-38, chilies Rs80-100, suji Rs10-12, Basmati rice Rs16-18, IRRI rice Rs10-12, mutton Rs80-100, beef Rs38-50, dates Rs28-32, ghee Rs42-45 and sugar Rs21-22.

However, these articles are not available at the fixed rates at fair price shops. Some consumers allege short weighing by shopkeepers. The fruit and vegetables are also being sold at high rates.
