KARACHI, Nov 20: The police on Monday tried to cover up the exact number of vehicles stolen or taken away at gunpoint.

However, sources in the department continued to feed the press with an improved version of official police handouts. By midnight the number of vehicles taken away crossed the 50 mark.

The sources verifying the figure also asked the newspaper to further authenticate the version by contacting the CPLC. Owing to the last-hour rush, the name of the CPLC inadvertently appeared in the news-item as one of the sources, which is regretted.
