WASHINGTON: In a story published on June 11 — “US cancels Balochistan seminar to avoid worsening of ties” — it was mistakenly reported that members of the banned separatist group BLA were also to speak at the forum.

Dawn has subsequently learnt that while the organisers — the US Defence Intelligence Agency — had invited some Baloch nationalists to address the seminar, there were no BLA leaders among them. The only two Baloch speakers at the proposed seminar are writers and researchers, and have no links with the separatist group.

The error is regretted.
