LAHORE: 5,975 LHWs recruited

LAHORE, Nov 20: The selection of lady health workers (LHWs) for Phase-IV in the Punjab is in progress and till now 5,975 LHWs have been recruited for 23 districts.

The was stated at a meeting of the National Programme for Family Planning and Primary Healthcare at the Civil Secretariat on Tuesday, says a handout.

Under the Phase-IV, some 7,830 LHWs would be recruited. The selection in remaining 11 districts would be completed shortly, the meeting was told.

When this phase was over, 28,830 LHWs would be working in the province.

Health Minister Prof Mahmood Ahmad Chaudhry said that a better salary package should be offered to the lady health workers (LHWs) to achieve the family planning and primary healthcare targets.
