KARACHI, Dec. 12: Pakistan Customs has included an England-based Pakistani Rawait Mahmood Khan in their 20-member squad for the Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Trophy Championship beginning at various centres of the country Dec 21.
Twenty-year-old Birmingham-born right hand batsman and medium pace bowler Rawait had played a couple of first class games for Derbyshire in English County Championship after making his debut in 2001.
Aamir Bashir has been named to lead the team which finished sixth in last year’s Patrons Trophy.
Customs has also picked newcomers wicket-keeper Hanif Malik and medium pacer Imran Ali from Hyderabad, Bahawalpur under-19 batsman Asif Iqbal and Nadeem Karamatullah.
Waqar Hussain will be the manager of the team while former Test paceman Jalaluddin and Haris Khan will be chief coach and coach of the team respectively.
Customs is placed in group-III with Habib Bank, Lahore Whites, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala and Sialkot.
Squad: Shadab Kabir, Azhar Shafiq, Kashif Siddique, Naseem Khan, Aamir Bashir (captain), Rawait Mahmood Khan, Aamir Iqbal and Hanif Malik (wicket-keepers), Tabish Nawab, Salman Fazal Khan, Shahid Mahmood, Abdul Rauf, Waqar Ahmed, Nadeem Iqbal, Yasir Hussain, Waqas Chugtai, Nadeem Karamat, Asif Iqbal, Nisar Abbas, Imran Ali.
Meanwhile Customs will take on Rest of Pakistan in day/night fixture at National Stadium to commemorate Quaid-i-Azam Day on Dec 25.
Several of current Test cricketers will be seen in action in the match, organizers announced Thursday.—APP
