KARACHI, Dec 12: The fourth International Workshop on “Forced Migration: Challenges and Responses” will be held in a local hotel on Dec 13 and 14, a spokesman for Karachi University announced on Thursday.
He said the workshop was being organized by the Department of International Relations, University of Karachi, and the Hanns Seidel Foundation, Islamabad.
Delegates from Germany, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will present papers at the workshop besides those from various parts of the country.
The workshop will be attended by the Karachi office chief of the UNHCR, Mubashir Ahmed, and the regional representative of the International Organization for Migration, Armand Rousselor.
The Vice Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof (Dr) Zafar Saeed Saifi, will deliver the presidential address at the inaugural session.
The Dean of Karachi University’s Faculty of Arts, Abu Zar Wajidi, will present the vote of thanks.
The address of welcome will be presented by the Chairperson of Karachi University’s Department of International Relations, Prof (Dr) Talat A. Wizarat.
Dr Andredas Rieek, the resident representative of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, and the Director of the Workshop, Prof Sikander Mehdi, will also speak at the inaugural session of the workshop.—APP
