ISLAMABAD, May 21: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has approved setting up of a “junior naval academy” at Ormara, in Balochistan, as a special project to complement the government’s initiative under the Aghaz-i-Huqooq-i-Balochistan.

A quota of 50 per cent has been reserved for Baloch students.

The academy will be the first military training institution to be set up in the west of Karachi and will also pave way for revival of the naval cadet scheme of Pakistan Navy.

It will be run by a board of governors and will function under the command of the Naval Headquarters.

Besides induction in the armed forces, the JNAO will help the youth of coastal areas to earn their livelihood.
