KARACHI, Dec 11: Five ships carrying containers, crude oil and passenger buses are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was active where four ships, APL Costa Rica, Sinar Bontang and Kota Teguh to unload and load containers and Botany Triton to offload chemicals were berthed after the departure of six.

The departing ships were led by Sima Bahar, Honor River, Ocean Luna, Meros Kandy, Bolan, and Tenora, while APL Costa Rica, Johar, Botany Triton and AP Sheron are due to sail out on Thursday.

Berth occupancy at the dry wharves rose to 74 per cent, while it was nil on the oil piers as no tanker was berthed.

A total tonnage of 85,514 tons comprising 17,707 tons of export cargo including 656 tons of rice and 10,200 tons of molasses and 67,807 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Good Hope, with crude oil, World Trust to load naphtha, Al-Wajba and Iron-D, with containers and Sondos, with buses and general cargo.

Meanwhile, Safmarine Kimley carrying containers was also berthed at Qasim International Containers Terminal.

A cargo volume of 37,797 tons comprising 31,592 tons of import tonnage and 6,205 tons of export tonnage, inclusive of cargo carried in 365 containers (Teus), was handled.

Shou Ning Hai and Bruxelles carrying general cargo and containers were due to take berths at Marginal Wharf and Qasim International Containers Terminal.
