HYDERABAD: Money changer arrested

HYDERABAD, Dec 9: The police arrested a money changer, Haneef Mitho, following registration of a case at the Cantonment police station.

According to a complainant, Mohammad Ahmed, who has lodged the case with the Cantonment police that the money changer had committed fraud with him.

Ahmed, a resident of Latifabad Unit No12, claimed that he had given Rs214,700 to Mitho in April and had received a receipt for it.

He said that all of a sudden Mitho shut down his business and when he demanded his money, the money changer refused.

He said that after three months he was given a cheque for the Muslim Commercial Bank, which had bounced because of there being no money in the account.

He said that later Mitho and his friends issued him threats of dire consequences.

A woman, Shaheen Khan, had also lodged a case at the City police station on Oct 25 following a fraud of Rs1.5 million with her.

Police had arrested Mitho but soon released him on personal bond.
