PESHAWAR, Dec 8: Four persons of a family were killed and nine injured when a Toyota pick-up hit a landmine in Sam Ghakhe area of Shah Kas village in Jamrood, Khyber Agency, on Saturday morning.

Sources said that 13 members of Malik Hameed Khan’s family packed in the pick-up were going to see their relatives in other villages on the second day of Eid.

When they reached at Sam Ghakhe area the vehicle hit a landmine killing four persons instantly. Nine in the vehicle received shrapnel wounds, while the condition of two was stated to be critical.

The deceased were, wife of Malik Hameed Khan, his two- year-old daughter Marium, his brother Afzal Khan and Afzal’s daughter Rasma.

Malik Hameed’s brother Wahid Khan, his son Zahid Khan, his two daughters Shazia and Sabira, his sister and his four nephews Gul Sher, Ali Sher, Tayyab Sher and Hayat Sher, sons of Sher Dil Khan, were injured.

The injured were rushed to Hayatabad Medical Complex where the condition of Shazia and Gul Sher were stated to be critical. Other seven injured were discharged from the hospital on Sunday, the sources said.

The Political Administration of Khyber Agency have registered the Daily Situation Report (DSR) and started investigation. No arrest have been made so far.

Talking to Dawn, Malik Hameed said he had no enmity with any person. But he was sure that someone wanted to kill him, he added.
