Erupe sets course record

SEOUL, March 18: Kenyan rookie Wilson Loyanae Erupe ran to a surprise victory on Sunday in the Seoul marathon, clocking a personal best and setting a new course record.

The 24-year-old crossed the finishing line in two hours five minutes 37 seconds, breaking the previous course record of two hours six minutes 49 minutes set by compatriot Sylvester Teimet in 2010.

Kenyan athletes dominated the men’s top five: James Kipsang Kwambai came in second at two hours six minutes three seconds, followed by three other compatriots.—AFP
