KARACHI, Dec 2: Five ships including two tankers carrying palm oil and soyabean oil are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side as the port agencies tried to clear the inward rush of foreign flag vessels.

As a result, seven ships, Iwato, Bunga Bidara and Iron-D to unload and load containers, Meres Kamdy to offload sugar in transit to Afghanistan, Victoria to load rice, Al-Maqwa and Good Hope to offload high speed diesel and crude oil respectively were berthed.

Five ships, Jamila, Australia Bridge, Bunga Bidara, Ping Jiang and Al-Farabi departed, while Al-Maqwa, Kota Wangasa, Iwato, Good Hope and Chitral are due to sail out on Tuesday.

Berth occupancy at the dry wharves and the oil piers rose to 63 and 67 per cent thanks to steady berthing and sailings.

The total tonnage rose to 0.121m tons comprising 6,028 tons of export cargo and 0.115m tons of import tonnage including 77,890 tons of oils.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Pergamos to load 16,300 tons of molasses, MOL Sincerity, to offload and load containers, Bhuvami to offload 500 tons of palm oil, Jona to unload 7,500 tons of soyabean oil and Hammurabi, a container vessel.
