KARACHI: 2 persons commit suicide

KARACHI, Nov 20: Bandits found least resistance on the part of police on Wednesday and hijacked/stole 41 vehicles — nine cars and 32 motorcycles, police sources said.

Three cars were hijacked. Six others were stolen.

Twelve motorcycles were hijacked. Twenty others were stolen.

SUICIDES: A young man and a young woman committed suicide in the city on Wednesday.

A young man committed suicide in his house in Quaidabad early in the morning.

Police said that Haibat Khan, aged 22, shot himself with his father’s pistol after locking himself up in a room of his house in Firdous Colony, Quaidabad.

Quoting family sources, police said that the young man had been mentally sick for the past three years.

The body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for post-mortem. However, the family did not allow post-mortem examination an took away the body.

A young woman consumed poison in her house in Lyari on Wednesday night.

She was rushed to Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

Sources at the hospital, quoting family sources, said that Rozina, aged 26, wife of Izzat Khan, consumed poison in her house after she had arguments with her husband on a domestic matter. Police, however, drew a blank on the incident.

WOUNDED: An activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement was found seriously wounded in Rizvia police limits on Wednesday evening.

Police said that Mohammed Mohsin, aged 22, resident of the Pak Colony police lines, had been missing for the past few days. On Wednesday he was found seriously injured near Sir Syed Girls College.

He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Sources at the hospital described his condition as serious. The sources said that unidentified men had put a pistol in his mouth and opened fire. The bullet pierced through his head. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Later, he was referred to the JPMC.

A minibus driver was shot and wounded by unidentified man riding on a motorcycle in SITE area on Wednesday evening.

Police said that Rehmat, aged 28, driver of a minibus of route X-3, was standing at Habib Bank chowrangi in SITE at Iftar time when an unidentified motorcyclist shot and wounded him and escaped.
