KARACHI, Nov 20: Five ships carrying DAP fertilizer, containers and to load naphtha and molasses are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources.
Berthing activity at the wharves was normal after steady arrival of the foreign flag vessels and as a result six ships were allotted berths: They are: Sinar Bontang, APL Dalian to unload and load containers, BBC Gibraltar, Leyo to offload and load general cargo and Al-Maqwa and W.S. Berber to offload oils.
Five ships, Singa Ace, Makran, Banglar Maookh, Vigour and Shamrock Star departed on Wednesday, while Sea Bahar, Celodi Singapore, Bum Dong, Kota Teguh, Iron-D and Sea Link are due to sail out on Thursday.
Berth occupancy rose to 67 and 80 per cent both at the oil piers and dry wharves thanks to steady sailing and berthing of foreign flag ships.
Cargo handling activity was maintained on the higher side as the total tonnage rose to 0.102m tons comprising 5,535 tons of export cargo and 96,648 tons of import cargo, both liquid and dry.
The following ships are due on Thursday: Celodi Singapore, to load 25,000 tons of naphtha, Bum Dong to load 16,000 tons of molasses, Iron-D, Kota Teguh to unload and load containers and Sea Link to offload 26.250 tons of DAP fertilizer.
