ISLAMABAD: A partial eclipse of sun was observed on Friday from high latitudes of southern hemisphere and including South Africa, Antarctica, Tasmania and most of New Zealand.

The eclipse was not visible in Pakistan which began on Saturday 0923 hours according to the Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

The greatest eclipse was at 1120 hours and ended at 1317 hours.

The greatest magnitude was 0.905, said Climate Data Processing Centre of Pakistan Meteorological Department.

This eclipse was fifth of the total solar eclipse, indicated by Pakistan Meteorological Department for the year 2011.

A total six eclipses, four partial solar (of the sun) and two lunar (of the moon) are being observed in the country.

However, only one partial solar eclipse and one lunar eclipse were visible in the country.

The last of all these eclipses, total eclipse of moon will be visible in Pakistan on December 10 and all phases of total lunar eclipse will be visible from eastern and southeastern Asia and Australia.
