RAWALPINDI, Nov 13: Robbers and thieves struck at 14 different places in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Wednesday and deprived people of valuables - cash and eight vehicles, police said.
In the first incident, two robbers posing as cable operator entered a house in Westridge and looted gold ornaments and cash after holding the family at gunpoint.
Gulnar Bibi, complained to the police that the two culprits snatched gold ornaments and cash from the women. The robbers escaped after locking the family in a room.
In another incident, some armed robbers entered the house of Mohammad Saleem near Mareer Chowk and made off with cash.
Burglars broke into Amir Latif’s house in Jan Colony and made off with prize bonds valued at Rs18,000, Rs7,000 in cash, a television set and gold ornaments, police said.
Nazar Hussain’s car (AJKB-2633) was stolen from Gunjmandi, while Mohammad Sarfraz’s truck (RIK-8627) was lifted from Khayaban-i- Sir Syed.
Mohammad Usman’s Suzuki car (GTC-2112) was stolen from sector G-10/4, while Azhar Hayat’s car (DNB-9134) was lifted from the Civil Line area.
Similarly, Nadeem Kiani’s ambulance van was stolen from railway housing scheme while Mohammad Iqbal’s oil tanker (SGA-5922) was lifted from the Civil Line police area. A Pajero Jeep (RIU-3053), owned by Ziaul Haq was stolen from Khayaban-i-Sir Syed while Mohammad Atif’s motorcycle (IDB-6191) was lifted from B-Block Satellite Town.
Meanwhile, eight people were injured - one of them critically - when their pick-up van plunged into a ravine at Margalla hills (Pooknar Kalhar) on Wednesday, police said.
The police said a van (QAD-5153) was going to Kalhar village when it plunged into the ravine after its driver lost control.
People from the nearby areas rushed to the rescue of the passengers trapped inside the van and helped the police in taking them to hospital.
