GUJRANWALA, Nov 7: Death toll in Sodara firing incident rose to seven as a child succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
Accused Inayat, Azam and Shafqatullah shot dead their brother-in-law Mirza Khan, their sister Rehana, nephew Usman, 6, and brothers Saifullah, Shabbir and Sohani over a land dispute in Leveriwala, Sodara, and injured a minor boy, Shan, about two days ago. Shan was rushed to the Civil Hospital where he died on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the body was handed over to the family after autopsy.
SUICIDE: A woman allegedly committed suicide over a domestic issue on Nomania Road here on Thursday.
Ghazala had a quarrel with her husband Maqsood. She slit open her throat with a knife and died on way to hospital.
It is stated that she contracted love marriage with Maqsood a few months ago.
DEATH SENTENCE: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday convicted three men in a dacoity-cum-murder case.
Convicts Altaf Ahmad and Jamshed Ahmad were sentenced to death on two counts each while their accomplice Saifullah was given life term. They were also fined Rs300,000 collectively. They will have to undergo one-year hard jail for failing to pay the fine.
According to the prosecution, the convicts killed the wife and mother of bank manager Amjad during a dacoity bid and injured him Gujrat in April.
Meanwhile, an additional district and sessions judge handed down death sentence with Rs200,000 fine to one Abid in a murder case.
The convict had killed Qadir in Gujranwala Sadar over a minor issue on October 22, 2001.
He will have to undergo more six months imprisonment on failing to pay the fine.
