KARACHI, Nov 5: After the newly-elected President of the Sindh High Court Bar Association, Muneer A. Malik, supported the stand taken by the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Hamid Khan, the Sindh Bar Council has also adopted unanimous resolution supporting him.
At a meeting presided over by the Vice Chairman of the SBC, Abdul Sattar Kazi, the SBC whole-heatedly supported the bold and categorical stand taken by the SCBA President, Hamid Khan, before the Supreme Court while withdrawing the review petition.
The SBC also expressed its “deep sense of concern over the remarks and attitudes of Hon’able Judges of the Supreme Court, and feels itself bounden by duty to convene a representative meeting of the bar associations of the province.”
It was also resolved that such a meeting would also decide the future course of action in the matter. The SBC also condemned extension in the retirement age of Supreme Court and High Court judges, and termed it a “political bribe” for upholding the Legal Frame Work Order and various ordinances promulgated by an individual.
The SBC also constituted a five-member committee to take necessary action. The committee members are Abrar Hasan, Zia Ahmed Awan, Imdad Ali Awan, Asif Ali Soomro and Abdul Sattar G. Memon.
