KARACHI, Nov 1: Although European countries sometimes ask their citizens not to visit Pakistan for security reasons, it has never been a dangerous country for those who love its people and respect its dignity.
“Foreigners living in Pakistan, who know the atmosphere and attitude of the people, feel no danger whatsoever in this country,” said Wolfram W. Karnowski, a German scholar and author, at a reception hosted in his honour by the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs at its premises on Friday.
Karnowski is a Pakistan-based German, associated with the EFU Group of Companies and has written two books: a biography on Roshan Ali Bhimjee and the EFU Saga, making of an institution within the context of freedom struggle for its existence.
Thanking the management of the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs, especially its Chairman Fatehyab Ali Khan for giving him the chance to express his feelings, he observed that Pakistani nation is one of the greatest nations of the world.
“Pakistanis should tell their younger generation about the freedom struggle and efforts of their great leaders like Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Quaid-i-Azam and Dr Mohammad Iqbal,” he said, adding that this country has a remarkable history of struggle and bright future.
He said: “I believe in a promising future of the 135 million people of Pakistan, who want to build Pakistan as a prominent country in the comity of nations.”
Karnowski said he met and talked to the common man in Pakistan and came to know that the people were looking for building their country into a great nation.
Former Director of the Quaid-i-Azam Academy, Dr Sharif-ul- Mujahid read a paper on Karnowski books and observed that the author had done ample justice with both Roshan Ali Bhimjee and the great leaders of Pakistan during the freedom struggle.
Extending felicitations to Karnowski, he said the sketches of our national leaders portrayed by him in his two books were commendable and an “unforgettable service for the Pakistanis”.
