Speaking at the demonstration staged at the Karachi Press Club on Thursday, SWA chief Ghulam Haider alleged that the police and the administration were not taking any action against the people of the nearby village who had damaged the development schemes in the Ghanche district.
He said that the development schemes would supply drinking water and irrigate the lands of Sokhmous village, Chhohar village, Kalan village and Sairi village. He said the villagers of those areas were feeling cheated over the biased attitude of the administration and some of them had even migrated to other areas.
He said that the villagers were constructing the schemes on self-help basis, getting assistance from the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme and the government.
He demanded that action be taken against the people who had damaged the development schemes, and the construction material that they had taken away be recovered from them and returned to the villagers, so that the developmental schemes could be completed.
