WASHINGTON, July 7: The commander of US forces in Afghanistan has confirmed that Afghan insurgents were crossing into Pakistan to attack Pakistani troops and civilians.
“It goes both ways,” Lt-Gen David Rodriguez, commander of the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command, told reporters when asked to comment on Islamabad’s complaint that Afghan insurgents were crossing into Pakistan to kill civilians and troops.
“The Afghan-Pakistani … border region is very, very rugged (and) porous, both ways. And some of those forces that reside in that area and move across that area have gone both ways, back and forth,” he said.—Correspondent
