HYDERABAD, Oct 28: The general body of the Sindh Agriculture University Teachers Association has resented lack of transparency during the selection board proceedings held on Oct 21.
The meeting, held at the campus in Tando Jam on Saturday, alleged that the malpractice in the process were obvious due to the non-involvement of subject specialists, concerned chairmen and deans in conduct and evaluation of pre-qualification tests for lecturers, deferred cases of move-over of teachers and non- issuance of interview letters to the qualified candidates for administrative posts.
The meeting observed that the interviews were conducted non- stop from morning till midnight without announcing the results and notifying the successful candidates.
The meeting took strong exception to the insults, hurled by the vice chancellor and the chairman, selection board, to some candidates during the interviews and to holding the interviews against non-existent and un-advertised posts in the administration, irrelevant objections raised to disqualify deserving candidates, absence of requisite facilities, particularly for women candidates, and the selection of persons of controversial merit in majority of cases.
The meeting demanded of the chancellor to declare the selections of lecturers and administration officers null and void.
It demanded that the selection of handpicked lecturers and assistant professors of Information Technology, based on the test conducted by non-technical persons, be cancelled.
The meeting made it clear if the demands were not accepted, the teachers might adopt appropriate line of action to seek their acceptance.
