HYDERABAD, Oct 28: The Taluka Council City (TCC) on Monday demanded of the police to register FIRs according to wishes of complainants and not to force them to sign on a blank piece of paper at the police stations.
The TCC was discussing a resolution on the issue which was submitted by Mohammad Usman Abbasi. The TCC after a discussion passed the resolution unanimously.
The session was presided over by Convener Abdul Qadeer Naghar.
Mr Abbasi stated that it had been observed repeatedly at various police stations that the FIR was written in Sindhi instead of the national language making it unreadable.
He said that in such cases the people complained that they could not understand what had been written in the FIR and ultimately the complainants disowned the version of such FIRs.
He said that the police should be bound not to force the people to sign on a blank piece of paper at the police stations, and added that the FIR should be written in simple Sindhi.
Qamaruddin Sheikh said that since it was a sensitive issue, therefore, due consideration should be given to it.
Iqbal Sheikh said that the issue of the FIR should not be discussed in terms of Sindhi or Urdu language but the TCC should issue a directive that the police should lodge FIRs in simple language be it Sindhi or Urdu.
The TCC adopted another resolution of Mr Abbasi regarding the construction of a school for the deaf and dumb.
He said that due to the non-payment of salaries to municipal workers because of the lack of financial resources, the people had been witnessing problems.
He said that it was necessary that the building of the TCC should be renovated as soon as possible in order to increase financial resources. Likewise, he claimed, the building of the school for the deaf and dumb, which was in a dilapidated condition, should also be reconstructed with a hotel on its upper storey and shops on its ground floor.
Abdul Waheed Qureshi Ajmeri’s resolution about providing basic facilities in Mir Nabi Bukhsh town, Noorani Basti, Mehboob Town Phase I and II, Gulshan-e-Elahi Phase I, Effendi town, Shama Colony, Chistiya Colony and a large number of other areas was passed unanimously.
He said that the residents of these areas had been deprived of civic amenities.
He called upon the provincial and district governments to announce a special package for the solution of the problems of these areas.
Mr Ajmeri said that development work should be initiated on a priority basis in these areas.
