HYDERABAD, Oct 27: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Saturday issued a notice to the Nazim of Hala taluka to file his comments on a telegram converted into a constitutional petition, praying the court to ensure early completion of a road.

Mohammad Saleh Khokhar, a resident of Godar Khokhar village, Hala taluka, had sent the telegram, informing the court a contractor, Mohammad Yameen, with connivance of a surveyor, Rehmatullah, and others, had not completed the sanctioned 2,800-foot-long road from Malook Leghari village to Godar Khokhar village.

He alleged the contractor, in collusion with officers concerned, had embezzled the contract amount.

He prayed the court to order early completion of the work and take action against officials concerned who, according to him, were issuing threats to the villagers.

The court issued notice to the Nazim of Hala taluka after the executive engineer, roads, informed the matter did not fall within his jurisdiction.

The matter was fixed for Nov 12.

CASES: According to a data gathered by the district and sessions judge, Hyderabad, Prakash Lal M. Ambwani, 14,668 cases remained pending in the sessions courts till September.

The judge has left for Islamabad to attend a national workshop on Delay Reduction in Courts. The workshop is being held to discuss ways to overcome the problems affecting the production of under-trial prisoners in the courts.
