KARACHI: Doctors seek attackers’ arrest

KARACHI, Oct 27: The Sindh police are avoiding arrest of four persons who allegedly injured an eye surgeon for mishandling an eye surgery, said spokesmen for the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) and the Civil Hospital in separate statements on Sunday.

The NICH spokesman maintained that Dr Jalal-ul-Huda was injured by four persons, including Qasim Ali and Saleem, on Wednesday last but no arrest had been made by the North Nazimabad police.

SI Tariq Yaqoob, who is investigating the case, is avoiding arrest of a suspect, who allegedly runs a gambling den, saying that he had gone underground, the spokesmen said.

Assistant Professor Shahid Wahab of the eye department (CHK), Dr Afaq, Dr Saleem Moin, Dr Farida Abbasi of the NICH and Dr Tariq Aziz of the JPMC eye department, while expressing concern over the incident, appealed to the Sindh governor to direct the police to arrest the accused without delay.
