Man sentenced to life imprisonment

LAHORE, Oct 24: An anti-terrorism court awarded on Thursday life imprisonment and Rs50,000 fine to a man for severely injuring a police constable.

In case of non-payment of fine, the convict will have to undergo further imprisonment of six months.

According to the FIR, Muhammad Boota and his accomplices Akram and Nadeem were going on a motorcycle in the Sabzazaar area in July 2001. On suspicion, a police party signalled them to halt on the Main Boulevard of Sabzazaar area. The three men opened indiscriminate fire on the police party, resulting in severe injuries to Constable Muhammad Azam.

Boota was arrested while his two accomplices fled away and were declared proclaimed offenders.
