KARACHI, Oct 24: Three ships carrying containers, crude oil and to load molasses are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity on the wharves was active where all the new arrivals were berthed. They are: Mar Challenger, PONL Malindi, Al-Wajba, Kota Tegap to unload and load containers and Khalid Ibn al-Waleed to load rice.

Four ships, APL Pusan, Sima Kija, Iran Akhavan and Nine Hawk departed, while Kota Tegap, Fighter, Addarraq, Mar Challenger and MOL Sincerity are due to sail out on Friday.

Owing to steady berthing and sailing, the berth occupancy rose to 67 and 69 per cent both at the oil and dry berths respectively.

Cargo handling activity was above the average daily figure at 68,435 tons comprising 22,622 tons of export cargo including 1,648 tons of rice and 8,400 tons of molasses and 45,813 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Friday: Sea Splendour, to load 20,000 tons of molasses, Johar, with crude oil and Wan Hai-302, with containers.

KARACHI, Oct 24: Two ships carrying chemicals and containers were allotted berths at Marginal Wharf and QICT during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Thursday.

Meanwhile, five more ships to load wheat and offload containers also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Seven ships were at the wharves loading/discharging wheat, containers, chemicals and iron ore.

Cargo handling activity remained brisk as a cargo volume of 42,019 tons comprising 25,028 tons of import cargo and 19,991 tons of export tonnage, inclusive of cargo carried in 1,125 containers (Teus), was handled.

One ship, Safmarine Kimley sailed out, while Msc Maeva, Antigoni-B, and NCC Najd were expected to leave the port on Thursday.

Five ships, Msc Aurora, Koria Star, Francisca Schulte, United Trader and Olympic Champion were due to take berths at QICT and Marginal Wharf.
