ISLAMABAD, Oct 23: Pakistan and Liaoning International of China signed an agreement here on Tuesday for cooperation in setting up 18-mw Hydro Electric Power Station at Naltar, district Gilgit.
A senior official of the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas and the representative of Liaoning International signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.
The minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas and the ambassador of Peoples’ Republic of China to Pakistan were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister lauded the interest shown by China in the economic development of the country and expressed the hope that time-tested friendship between the two countries would grow strength to strength in the days to come.
Having an installed capacity of 18 mw, the electric power station would be completed with a cost of $19.188 million. The work would be carried out by the Northern Areas Public Works Department and China Liaoning International Corporation (CLIC).
