KARACHI, Oct 22: Rocket Fuel, a three-year-old chestnut colt owned by Syed Tasawer Hussain Shah, is on song to register his fourth successive victory, when the Winter Gymkhana Race Meeting gets under way at Karachi Racecourse Wednesday afternoon from 12.30pm.
Piloted by jockey Shehzad on all three winning appearances, the colt contesting in the sixth race going over five furlongs with a big field of 18 runners, should get the better of Royal Falcon and Regal.
All in all, seven events have been drawn up on the racing card all to be run over the sprinting distance of five furlongs.
Another runner that should not lose on Wednesday, is Shining Steel from trainer Taj Mohammad’s stable, participating in the fourth race of the afternoon, also with a big field of 18 runners.
Shining Steel should be followed home by Black Door Man and Prism Of Life, unlucky to finish second on Sunday behind Delta Song.
In the first race with only eight runners in contention, Abr-e-Noor should find the going good against Royal Promise and Millennium Era.
In the next race, Reasonable beaten on Sunday by Baby Tabassum, will be going all out to make amends for that defeat, with Striker and Major Dandy taking the second and third berths.
The same could be said about Silent Fire in the third race. The chestnut horse trained by former jockey Nazir, finished third behind Look At Me and Sweet Grandy three days ago.
If all goes well, Silent Fire should finish the race ahead of Genuine Risk and Defence Academy.
In the fifth event, Faisal Farooq’s thoroughbred bay horse Neelam Taab was beaten by just one length by Rocket Fuel in his last outing. Taking that run into consideration, Neelam Taab is our fancy to pick up the spoils in the fifth race, chased all the way past the winning post by Satellite Star and Reincarnated.
The Faisal Farooq stable has another winner in the concluding race in the likes X’Tasy. The bay filly ran a marvellous race on Sunday over six furlongs and was beaten by just two lengths by Show Time, going wide at the bend yet storming in from the outside to achieve victory.
The much talked about Prince Of Arabia, already with a victory under his belt and Wonderful Peace should battle it out in the straight for the second spot.
