ATTOCK, Oct 20: A girl was killed and 20 other people, including employees of Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), Kamra, were injured in a bomb blast at Sunday Bazaar, Kamra Cantt, on Sunday evening, police and hospital sources said.
The police sources said the bomb was planted in a flower vase and placed at the bicycle stand of the bazaar adjacent to the MRF colony entrance gate No-2 by some terrorists which exploded at 5:20pm.
As a result 11-year-old Saima Bibi, a resident of Dhoke Kisran, died and 20 people were injured who were shifted to the PAC hospital Kamra. Later seven injured persons including Shamsun Nihar, Javed Mohammad Yasin, Banaras Khan, Mohammad Latif, Safar Khan, Mohammad Fazal and Yasir were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Attock.
The injured PAC employees who were admitted to the PAC hospital, Kamra, were identified Ghulam Ahmed, Mohammad Aslam, Noor Hussain, Mohammad Bashir, Saeed Ahmed, Qazi Saleem, Suleman, Ramzan, Maqsood Ahmed, Ikhlaq, Arif, and Ishtiaq Ahmed.
When journalists arrived at the gate of PAC hospital to collect the details of the injured persons, they were not allowed in by the PAF officials.
Even the relatives were not allowed to enter the hospital, who protested against the behaviour of the PAC authorities.
On the information the DIG, Rawalpindi Range, Sheikh Israr, district police officer, Attock, Irshad Hussain Shah, PAC and other officials reached the spot.
The DIG while talking to the newsmen at the Gate of F-6 Colony, said that it could not be related with the blasts of Taxila and Murree, it appears that this is a new series of terrorist activities which are happening throughout the country however definite position can be disclosed only on final investigations.
On the occasion, the Attock DPO said that the bomb was of low intensity of about one pound and fortunately it was placed outside the bazaar where the crowd was very thin at the time of the explosion.
The Sunday Bazaar falls within the jurisdiction of Cantonment Board, Kamra Cantt, adjacent to the most sensitive area of the PAC which is one of the biggest defence production units of the country.
