LAHORE, Oct 20: The Anjuman Mazareen Punjab has decided to organize a convention of peasants and tenants from across the country on Dec 10.
The decision was taken at a meeting of tenants’ representatives from all state-owned farms in the Punjab held here on Sunday. Anjuman vice-president Dr John Christopher presided.
The meeting unanimously resolved to re-organize the tenants in Okara district and convened a meeting of the local unit of the Anjuman on Oct 23 to decide future line of action on the ‘dispute’ with the Okara military farm administration.
It also decided to hold a meeting of AMP’s district office-bearers at Yusufwala farms in Sahiwal on Nov 3 to discuss future strategy.
Greeting the MPs-elect, the meeting urged them to raise their voice for the rights of tenants.
Condemning registration of ‘false’ cases against Anjuman leaders, it demanded release of AMP chairman Anwar Dogar, who has been locked up in the Sahiwal jail since Aug 24. — Staff Reporter
