KARACHI, Oct 20: Felicitating the citizens of Karachi for their overwhelming support to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal in the recent elections, the Jamaat-i-Islami — a component party of the alliance — said it would strive for eliminating the culture of “Bhatta” and hatred from the city.
Speaking at a reception hosted in his honour, Naib Amir (JI) and central leader of the MMA, Prof Ghafoor Ahmed, alleged that Karachi was handed back to a particular “terrorist group” through a conspiracy, whereas the passage of the MMA towards an astounding victory was forcibly obstructed.
MMA leaders were confident that if the government accepts the holding of fair, free and transparent re-polling in Karachi under the army’s supervision, the MMA would emerge as the single largest power in the city.
The MMA leader said that in the past, citizens living in urban Sindh expressed confidence in the MQM, but that party failed to resolve the issues confronting the masses.—PPI
