KARACHI, Oct 19: Two men committed suicide in the city on Saturday.
A young man committed suicide in his house in Gulistan-i-Jauhar. Police said that Naveed Anwer, aged 23, who worked with the Pakistan Navy, hanged himself in his house in Pehelwan goth. He left a brief suicide note taking full responsibility for the suicide.
A mentally-deranged man killed himself in his house in the police limits of Napier. Police said that Ghulam Husain, aged 55, slit his throat with a sharp- edged object.
He was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
ROBBERY: One robbery was committed in the city on Saturday.
Bandits robbed two employees of a private firm of Rs550,000 and a motorcycle on Sharea Faisal in the police limits of Ferozabad.
The employees were coming out of their office to buy some articles, when two unidentified armed men intercepted them and robbed them of cash and also took away their motorcycle (KCY-1067).
ROAD ACCIDENTS: Reckless driving claimed two lives in the city on Saturday.
An Afghan trash-collector, Gulloo, aged 55, was run over by a speeding Suzuki hi-roof (CD-4140) while walking across Sir Shah Sulaiman Road in Gulshan-i-Iqbal. He died on the spot. The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed for post-mortem.
Police claimed to have arrested the vehicle driver, Javed, and impounded the vehicle.
An elderly man died when he came under the wheels of a speeding vehicle in the police limits of Soldier Bazar on late Friday night.
Police said that Shamsuddin, aged 70, was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle on Love Lane Road in Garden West. He was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
An unidentified man, who was in his mid-30s, was run over by a train near Baloch Colony on Saturday.
He died on the spot. The body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for autopsy.
After post-mortem the body has been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification.
