KARACHI, Oct 19: An assistant vice president and a head cashier of the National Bank were arrested on Saturday by the federal authorities for their alleged involvement in Rs750,000 fraud.

Officials at the Commercial Banking Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency said the two bank officials had withdrawn the amount from an account at the bank’s main branch.

They said AVP Ameer Sultan Malik , the then manager of the branch, and head cashier Fareed Ahmed Memon, fraudulanty got issued a cheque book in the name of Atia Khanum, the account holder, and withdrew in all Rs750,000 by four cheques.
