BADIN, Oct 17: Several widows, whose husbands had died during the Cyclone-2A, have alleged that the management of a local branch a bank is refusing to pay them the compensation money, given by the government.

The women include Bhanjani, widow of Darya Khan; Hakeema, widow of Ali Mohammad; Zaiboo, widow of Abdul Latif; and Hajiani, widow of Jan Mohammad.

Talking to this correspondent here on Thursday, they said that the compensation amount of Rs150,000 to Rs300,000 was allocated to each of them and it was deposited in the bank under the Profit Loss Sharing deposit for 360 months.

The term of deposit had matured on Oct 7, 2002, they said.

The widows alleged that the bank authorities were avoiding to release their amount on one or the other pretext.

They said the bank management was also forcing them to extend the deposit period for three more years.

They appealed President Pervez Musharraf and other authorities to intervene for early release of their compensation money from the bank.
