KARACHI, Oct 12: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro will inaugurate an exhibition of calligraphy and books at Hindu Gymkhana on Oct 19.

The exhibition, organized by the department of culture and tourism, will continue till Nov 2 between 10am and 11pm daily.

In a meeting, secretary culture Ashiq Hussain Memon said the government was arranging various programmes to create awareness about culture, ancient artifacts, manuscripts and historical assets of Sindh.

He requested all the concerned departments, including cultural centres and universities, to enthusiastically participate in the exhibition.

Deputy director Sindh Museums, Hyderabad, Shehzor Taibani, told the meeting that various institutions would advertise their products on the occasion through their stalls. Atiq Meo will make calligraphy of Soora-i-Rahman with pins and threads, he added.

He said calligraphy, consisting of 42 verses of Soora-i-Rahman, more than 130 and 70 publications of the Sindhi Adabi Board and the Sindh Language Authority, products of the Social Welfare Centres of Thar, Hyderabad and Karachi would be exhibited.—PPI
