ABBOTTABAD, Oct 11: Pakistan Muslim League (Q) won both National Assembly seats in Abbottabad according to unofficial results while the PML-N and PML-Q shared two each out of five provincial assembly seats while the fifth one went to an independent candidate.
Amanullah Khan Jadoon and Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob won NA-17 and NA-18, respectively, while PML-Q candidates Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani and Nisar Safdar grabbed the PF-44 and PF-47 seats, respectively. Malik Manzoor Hussain of the PML-N secured the PF-46 seat with a narrow margin and Sardar Mumtaz Abbasi won from PF-45. Independent candidate Idrees emerged winner from PF-48.
Besides, the PML-N candidate from NA-18, Murtaza Jawed Abbasi, and Haji Mohammad Iqbal, an MMA candidate from PF-48, told a press conference on Friday that rigging had been carried out at many polling stations. They said that at many stations the presiding officers were beaten up and votes were cast perforce. They alleged that their agents were not allowed to sit in the polling booths.
They said that they were in possession of stamped ballot papers and added that they were considering filing a writ petition before competent authorities and demanded of the concerned officials to withhold the results.
According to unofficial results, Amanullah Khan Jadoon of the PML-Q was leading with 44,178 votes in NA-17 against his rival Dr Azhar Khan Jadoon (independent) with 30,108 votes.
Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob of the PML-Q got 36,762 votes and Murtaza Jawed Abbasi of the PML-N secured 32,501 votes from NA-18.
Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani of the PML-Q received 13,619 votes, Inayat Iqbal Khan Jadoon of the PML-N 9,977 votes, and Shamroz Khan Jadoon of the PPP got 8,435 votes from PF-44 Abbottabad-I.
Sardar Mumtaz Abbasi of the PML-N is leading in PF-45 followed by Sardar Ali Zaman, an independent candidate.
