Rs48.860m budget approved

SANGHAR, Nov 12: A surplus budget of Rs48.860 million was presented and approved by the district government on Monday.

The session, which was presided over by Naib Nazim Dr Mahmood Ahmed Rajput, started at 11am.

There is a surplus of Rs5.301 million in the budget from Aug 14, 2001 to June 30, 2002.

The main features of the budget are income from share of export tax Rs31.881 million, income from property tax Rs1.10 million, income from rent Rs1.459 million, recovery of arrears Rs4.60 million, government grant Rs550,000, miscellaneous income Rs47,000, and opening balance Rs8.80 million.

Out of the total amount, Rs13.640 million would be spent on salaries, Rs17.700 million on ongoing schemes, Rs2.270 million on grants and contributions, Rs2.454 million on contingencies, Rs0.6185 million on liabilities, Rs0.610 million on repairs and maintenance, Rs0.300 million for purchasing furniture.

All the members approved the budget. But some members said the budget copies should have been provided at least two days earlier so they could have been able to look at it before coming to the session.

The district Nazim, Roshan Din Junejo, said the Sindh government will provide Rs140 million for roads, education, health, and roads in the near future, and added that the amount would be spent with the approval of the district council.
