LAHORE, Oct 6: PML-N Information Secretary Siddiqul Farooq on Sunday demanded the establishment of a representative commission with judicial powers to purge the armed forces of what he called “black sheep” and recover the money misappropriated by various officials.
At a news conference here, he said the commission should include Supreme Court judges, office-bearers of the Pakistan Bar Council and parliamentary party leaders of all parties.
The PML-N leader said there was a need for an across-the-board accountability and armed forces should not be kept out of the net.
According to a written statement distributed to journalists, various army officials had got lands allotted to them at throw away prices.
Meanwhile, Punjab PML-N Secretary-General Khwaja Saad Rafiq said at a separate news conference that his party would thwart any bid by the regime to manipulate election results.
He said any presiding officer who failed to hand over a signed statement of the vote count to the polling agents would not be allowed to go home.
He said opposition parties could launch agitation to protest against election rigging. —Staff Reporter
