KARACHI, Oct 6: Sunni Tehrik leaders have vowed to get their “usurped” rights restored by sending their own representatives to the assemblies and the Senate.
They claimed that our manifesto reflects Shariat-i-Mustafvi (PBUH) as Muslims not only in Pakistan but in other places also can prosper and safeguard their dignity only by following the teachings of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).
ST chief Mohammed Abbas Qadri and central leaders of the party Maulana Iftikhar Bhatti, Maulana Mohammed Akram Qadri, Qari Khalilur Rahman, Mufti Mohammed Saqib Qadri and election candidates of the ST were speaking at “Ya Rasool Allah Conference” in Nishtar Park on Sunday night.
Those attending the meeting were seated holding the party flags and election symbol “Table Lamp” whose large models were also displayed.
Raising slogans of “Sunnis safety, ST, ST, and Pakistan’s safety ST, ST,” and waving the party flags, party supporters welcomed their party chief on his arrival at the venue. A party song was also played on the loudspeakers.
The stage was 12x15x30 feet in size. On both ends of the banner two national flags fluttered.
The conference, which was an election meeting of the ST, was organized on 24 hours’ notice and was attended by a sizable crowd.
Maulana Abbas in his speech said his party would cooperate with all political parties for the enforcement of Shariat-i-Mustafvi (SAW), and it would not tolerate anti-state elements.
He blamed politicians for the frequent derailment of democracy in the country accusing them of indulging in loot, plunder, nepotism and other kinds of corrupt practices.
He said the responsibility for holding free, fair and transparent elections in the country lay with the Chief Election Commissioner who should take notice of threats to voters and provide them protection so that they could exercise their right of franchise in a free and fair atmosphere.
Referring to unemployment, he said the ST would take pragmatic steps to provide jobs to youths and would not allow educational institutions to be turned into dens of terrorists.
He also criticized “those who have been working for separation under the cover of rights.” He expressed optimism that the conscientious Karachiites would reject every such move.
The ST chief warned that if Iraq was attacked, they would oppose it as armed aggression against Iraq would be taken as attack on Islam.
Maulana Iftikhar Bhatti, a central leader of the ST and party candidate from NA-244, hoped that followers of the Ahle Sunnat would demonstrate their confidence in the Sunni Tehrik on Oct 10. Maulana Akram Qadri said the conference would prove a milestone in the struggle for Sunnis’ rights.
