RAWALPINDI, Oct 1: Trials to select Pakistan Army team for the forthcoming Kardar Cricket Trophy (Grade-II) were held at Army Cricket Ground Tuesday.
The selection committee headed by Brig. Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, who is also Director of Army Sports Board, watched the 33-odd boys in action in the fields of bowling, batting and fielding.
The 20-strong team for the trophy, the country’s premier domestic cricket competition for departments, will be named Wednesday morning while the competition starts from Oct 11.
Those appearing for trails include some first-class and under-19 players of the country.
The 33 are: Maj Abrar Ahmed, Capt. Mashood, Hasnain Alam, Zulfiqar Ali, Umer Farooq, Ghazanfar Ali, Muhammad Fayyaz, Qari M. Fayyaz, Mushtaq Ahmed, Zubair Watto, Khair-ul-Islam, Mir Azam Khan, Asghar Khan, Shoaib Ashraf, Zia Ullah, Kashif Shahzad, Shiraz Khalid, Ziaul Haq, Yasir Ashfaq, Yasir Mushtaq, Mehboob Ali, Adeel, Zafar Ali Shah, Imtiaz Ali, Ajmal Shah, Ahmed, Shiraz Khan (wicketkeeper/batsman), Ziaul Haq Jr., Aftab Anjum, Mehboob Ahmed, Imran Khan, Muhammad Shiraz, Maqsood Bulani.—APP
