KATHMANDU, Sept 23: Nepal is to field 50 athletes in 11 of the 38 disciplines in the 14th Asian Games starting Sunday, and has vowed to perform better than at the last games held in Bangkok.
Only eight women have made it into the contingent, which take place in Busan, South Korea.
According to publicity official Ramesh Khanal, the Nepalese athletes will be reach Busan in South Korea on Friday.
“Nepal is participating in athletics, boxing, golf, judo, karate, swimming, shooting, taek-wondo, soft tennis, weightlifting and wushu,” Khanal said.
“The Nepalese athletes are hopeful of performing better than they did during the 13th Asian games held in Bangkok in 1998, particularly in athletics, boxing and martial arts competitions,” he said.—AFP
