Assault victim demands arrest of accused

MITHI, Sept 19: A rape victim has appealed to the chief justice, President Gen Pervez Musharraf and other authorities concerned to order the arrest of the rapists.

The victim, Padu Bai, was assaulted by a goldsmith and a constable a few weeks back.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Thursday, Bai said though FIRs were lodged at Chhachhro and Mithi police stations against the rapists, the police the had not arrested the nominated accused.

She said the henchmen of the accused were threatening her family members with dire consequences and pressurizing them to withdraw the cases.

She said there was no truth in a news published in a section of the press on Thursday that her father and mother were not being allowed to meet her.

She said she, along with her husband, had left their village, Kagia, due to the threats of the henchmen of the accused and were living at a safe place.

She alleged a police officer ‘Sobhnik’ was also harassing and pressurizing her relatives to withdraw the cases.

The husband of the victim, Amolakh, who was also present on the occasion, demanded of the authorities concerned to arrest the accused and ensure justice.
