LANDI KOTAL, Sept 18: The returning officers for the two Khyber Agency National Assembly seats released final list of 24 candidates after the completion of scrutiny and withdrawal of nomination papers.

The 12 candidates left in the run for NA-45 are: Akhtar Murad (Pakistan Tehrik Insaf), Amjad Ali Afridi (Qabayal Jamhoori Party), Ajab Khan Zakhakhel (Awami National Party), Haji Khan (Independent), Hidayat ullah (Ind), Ikramullah Kukikhel (Zawan Pukhtoon Gowand), Ishratullah (PPP-Parliamentarian), Mohammad Zakria Shinwari (Ind), Nawab Shah (Ind), Noorul Haq Qadri (Ind), Qazi Mohammad Ashraf (Muttahida Majlis Amal) and Sardar Khan (PML-QA).

For the NA-46 (Bara) constituency there are also 12 candidates including Alhaj Mian Gul (Khyber Union), Javed Afridi (PTI), Haji Faizullah (Ind), Dr Abdul Qadir (Ind), Dr Niaz Badshah (Ind), Dr Bakht Wazir (PML-QA), Farhad Shabab (PPP-Parliamentarian), Mohammad Ayub (Qabayal Jamhoori Party), Malikzada Said Akbar (Ind), Maulana Khalil ur Rehman (MMA), Mohammad Aris (Ind), Mohammad Saeed (ANP).

Meanwhile, electioneering in both the khyber Agency constituencies has also picked up. In Bara the election campaign is more vigorous and organized. Electioneering in Bara had started much earlier than its sister constituency NA-45. Almost all the major national political parties have fielded their candidates from NA-46.

The MMA had also at the eleventh hour agreed to field a consensus candidate. Earlier a row had developed between Jamiat Ulama-i-Islam (F) and Jamat-i-Islami over the seat adjustment on the two Khyber Agency seats.

A successful last ditch effort by JI provincial Ameer Professor Ibrahim convinced JI candidates to withdraw in favour of JUI(F) candidates in both the constituencies.

More enthusiastic in the electioneering are tribal youth and activists of various political parties.
