MULTAN, Sept 17: Yazman police have discharged the tongue slashing case after investigations and on medico-legal report that the injury was self-inflicted.

An intern of Rauzatul Aloom in Yazman, Abdul Quddus, 18, lodged an FIR with the police alleging that his teachers Qari Bashir, Maulana Azam Farooqui and Shamsuddin had deprived him of the power of speech over some ‘personal enmity’.

Police after registering the case mounted pressure on the accused to court arrest through their relatives and the influentials of the area. Consequently, they all surrendered.

Police recorded statements of scores of people to reach any conclusion as the accused had totally denied their role in the incident.

Dr Mazhar Mushtaq of the Yazman THQ hospital in his report declared the tongue injuries self-afflicted. Dr Sher Muhammad, a private practitioner, had also the same observations.

At this, the Yazman police station SHO ordered to discharge the complaint and lodged a case against the complainant under Section 182 PPC for misleading the police.
