ISLAMABAD, Nov 10: The government on Saturday categorically rejected the baseless allegations against Pakistan authorities of abducting and maltreating D.K. Gupta, a staff member of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad and the protest lodged by the Indian government in this regard.
The foreign office spokesman said that the Government of Pakistan had already asked the Government of India to withdraw D.K. Gupta by Nov 14 for his undesirable activities.
“In fact it was Indian intelligence operatives who, on Nov 1, 2001, kidnapped Mr Ghulam Shabbir, an official of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, kept him in custody for over five hours and beat him brutally,” the spokesman said.
He said the Government of Pakistan called upon the Government of India to refrain from such cheap tactics which serve to vitiate the atmosphere of bilateral relations.—APP
