BAHAWALPUR, Sept 13: Five-time elected MNA Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi, who has been disqualified because of graduation condition, is supporting candidates of various parties to stay in the limelight.
Irrespective of political affiliation, Mr Abbasi is supporting the candidates of different parties, though he claims himself to be the activist of the PML-QA.
In his home constituency NA-183, Bahawalpur-I, Mr Abbasi is supporting PML-N candidate Malik Ramzan Joiya and in PP-268 Sohail Shahzad Khakwani of the same party. For NA-185, Bahawalpur-V, he is backing former State minister Farooq Azam Malik, who claims to have got the ticket of PPP(Sherpao).
Mr Malik was a PPP activist but he became inactive after Nawab Abbasi lost last year’s election for district Nazim and Tariq Cheema was elected. Farooq Azam had opposed Mr Cheema.
Mr Abbasi has announced that he will support Millat Party’s Mian Riaz Husain Peerzada in run from NA-186, Bahawalpur-IV. Thus he will oppose former minister Syed Tasneem Nawaz Gardezi as Mr Gardezi had opposed him in the election for district Nazim. Gardezi is contesting from PML-QA’s ticket.
Meanwhile, PP-271 candidate Dr Abu Bakr Rao’s appeal against the acceptance of nomination papers of his rival Syed Tathearul Hassan has been dismissed by the election tribunal. Both the candidates are in run for PPP’s ticket for this constituency. The election tribunal has rejected another appeal against the acceptance of nomination papers of Tehreek-i-Insaf candidate Chaudhry Asif Sahi from PP-272.
