HYDERABAD, Sept 12: The employees of the Hyderabad city, Latifabad, and Qasimabad Taluka councils went on strike on Thursday in protest against the non-payment of their two-month salaries.
As a result, the cleanliness of Hyderabad was seriously affected.
A large number of employees including the sanitary staff held a protest demonstration and sit-in in front of the office of the city council.
They raised slogans against the government and Nazims.
The session of the city council was delayed for almost three hours due to the protest.
The general secretary of the workers union (CBA), Hyderabad city, Akram Rajput, has warned that the workers could go on an indefinite strike in protest against the non-payment of their salaries.
BUDGET SESSION: The Nazim, city, Hyderabad Taluka, Haji Moinuddin Shaikh, while addressing the budget session of the council said that he had received a cheque of Rs14,923,000.
He appealed to the employees to call off their strike.
SCHEMES: The District Coordination Officer of Hyderabad has said top priority is being given to the education sector and added 49 educational development schemes are under implementation.
These schemes are: 29 primary schools in rural areas and three in urban area; 12 middle schools; two high schools, on each in Mohammad Bux Shoro village, Qasimabad, and unit-2, Latifabad; two mono-technic schools, one each in Tando Jam and Tando Allahyar; and one higher secondary school in Nasarpur.
DCO Mir Hussain Ali was presiding over a meeting of officials to review educational development schemes here on Thursday.
The EDO, education, Kazi Zamir Hussain, informed the meeting nine development schemes — five shelterless schools in rural areas and two in urban areas, and two middle schools — were pending due to non-availability of plots.
The DCO asked the EDO to prepare proposals regarding the schemes within three days on the basis of feasibility, geographical spread and social needs, in consultation with union council Nazims concerned.
He also directed the EDO to ensure such schemes were implemented in relevant union councils.
About the establishment of a girls college on Bakra Mandi plot, the DCO said the matter had been taken up with higher authorities by the district government and said he was optimistic to get it implemented on the plot.
